Hello, my name is Raven Hunter and I am currently a senior at Auburn University majoring in Nutrition/Dietetics. I am passionate about nutrition science and am eager to embark on my journey as a Registered Dietitian.
Personal Goals
My primary goal is to land a dietetic internship after graduation in pursuit of being a registered dietician. I aspire to work in either a clinical setting, such as a hospital, or with the government with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). So far, I have completed most of the coursework required in my major and have one semester left in the program.
There are many factors that guided me in choosing my major. I decided to pursue a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics because it was a major that was within the health science field. I have always dreamed of being a doctor or nurse or any career path where I can help and assist others when needed. The clinical setting has always been fascinating to me for as long as I can remember. I have always been a caring and compassionate person and I think that this major was a great fit with my personality. I also wanted to be a dietitian because I can work on a variety of settings and specialize in a targeted area.
Upon completing my internship and passing the national board exam, I want to obtain a master’s degree and become a Certified Diabetes Educator. Many of my family members suffer from diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, so I am very passionate about diabetes prevention and improving the health of diabetes patients. I think that diabetes education is very important because this disease is becoming more prevalent in children and young adults.
